In July 2025, the highly anticipated China International Aluminum Industry Exhibition opened grandly at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. As the largest and most influential aluminum industry professional exhibition in Asia, this exhibition, with the theme of "Green Aluminum Industry, Smart Manufacturing Future", comprehensively showcased the latest achievements of the global aluminum industry in low-carbon transformation, intelligent manufacturing and high-end applications. The exhibition attracted exhibitors from more than 30 countries and regions, with an exhibition area of more than 50,000 square meters and more than 35,000 professional visitors, setting a record high.

This exhibition specially planned six theme exhibition areas to systematically present the innovative achievements of the entire aluminum industry chain. The "Green Aluminum and Application" area showcases the innovative applications of environmentally friendly materials such as recycled aluminum and low-carbon aluminum in the fields of construction, transportation, etc.; the "Intelligent Manufacturing Equipment" area brings together the world's leading aluminum processing equipment and technology; the "Automobile Lightweight Solutions" area focuses on the cutting-edge applications of aluminum alloys in new energy vehicles; the "Aluminum Deep Processing Products" area showcases the innovative design of high value-added aluminum products; the "Industry-University-Research Cooperation Results" area builds a bridge between technological innovation and industrial transformation; the "Twenty Years of Development of Aluminum Industry" area vividly demonstrates the leapfrog development of China's aluminum industry through precious historical materials.
At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, the leader of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association said: "The global aluminum industry is currently undergoing profound changes, and green, low-carbon and intelligent manufacturing have become the main theme of the industry's development. Through continuous innovation, China's aluminum industry not only ranks among the top in the world in terms of scale, but also has achieved a qualitative leap in technical level and product quality." This evaluation accurately summarizes the current development status and future direction of China's aluminum industry.
Concentrated display of technological innovation results
At the exhibition site, many exhibitors brought impressive technological innovation results. In the field of green manufacturing, many companies displayed low-carbon aluminum produced by renewable energy, with a carbon footprint of more than 60% lower than that of traditional processes. A company focusing on recycled aluminum production demonstrated its innovative scrap aluminum sorting and smelting technology, which can increase the metal recovery rate of recycled aluminum to more than 95% and reduce energy consumption by 30%, providing a feasible path for the green development of the industry.
In terms of high-end applications, exhibitors have launched high-performance aluminum alloy products for high-end fields such as aerospace and new energy vehicles. In particular, a new type of high-strength aluminum alloy material with a tensile strength of more than 500MPa, while maintaining good formability and corrosion resistance, has been successfully used in key components of many commercial aircraft and new energy vehicles. Another company launched its self-developed ultra-thin aluminum foil product for the first time at the exhibition. The thickness is only 4.5 microns, but it has excellent mechanical properties and barrier properties, providing better solutions for the lithium battery and food packaging industries.
Intelligent manufacturing has become another highlight of this exhibition. Many equipment manufacturing companies demonstrated intelligent aluminum processing production lines. Through the in-depth application of the Internet of Things, big data and artificial intelligence technologies, real-time monitoring, quality prediction and energy efficiency optimization of the production process were achieved. A new intelligent extrusion system attracted attention. The system uses digital twin technology to simulate and optimize extrusion process parameters in real time, so that the product qualification rate is increased to more than 99.5% and energy consumption is reduced by 15%.
Industry development trends and future prospects
More than 20 professional forums and seminars held during the exhibition discussed in depth the future development direction of the aluminum industry. Many industry experts pointed out that with the acceleration of the global carbon neutrality process, green and low-carbon will become the core theme of the development of the aluminum industry. It is expected that by 2030, the proportion of recycled aluminum in the global aluminum supply will increase from the current 30% to 50%, and the market share of low-carbon aluminum will also increase significantly.
In terms of technological innovation, experts generally believe that the research and development and application of high-performance aluminum alloys will continue to deepen. Especially in the field of new energy vehicles, with the increase in mileage requirements and the growth of lightweight body requirements, the proportion of aluminum alloys in key components such as battery packs and body structures will continue to increase. At the same time, the application of aluminum in new energy equipment such as photovoltaics and hydrogen energy will continue to expand, creating new growth points for the development of the industry.

In the next five years, aluminum processing companies will accelerate the digital transformation of the entire production process, and achieve quality improvement, efficiency improvement and cost reduction through intelligent perception, data analysis and optimized control.
